Les Jardins de la Muette
Largny-sur-Automne
The estate's charm lies in the commanding emplacement of the main building and its gardens, as well as in the remarkable succession of walls, which are at the same time borders, supporting walls for terraced gardens and domain walls. The Parc de la Muette, which received the « Jardin remarquable » (remarkable garden) label in 2004, offers a coherent, balanced and agreeable ensemble. Its character as a landscaped garden, with successive terraces of lawn (English influence) and embroidery (French influence), offers perspectives and moods to associate with the architecture of the estate.
Morienval Abbey
Morienval
After Great-Britain and Japan, David Austin opened for the first time in France a rose garden dedicated to his floral repertoire in a historical location, the Morienval abbey. In this enchanting shrine with its English garden-like contemplative esthetics, David Austin's roses narrate their fabulous destiny by resuscitating the royal monastery's past.
In the same fashion as David Austen rose garden in Great-Britain, the space is soberly structured into large flower beds topped with rambling and climbing rose bushes on cast-iron hoops. 1,600 rose bushes of 157 varieties play out the entire bucolic fantasy of David Austin. A perfumed enchanment !
